Did you know they have been in MA in Westfield for decades? The quote below is from Wickipedia but Westfield is known for the squirrels and they are easily visible when traveling through town.
"Black squirrels were introduced to Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts, in 1948, having been brought from Michigan as a gift to a local business man. The squirrels are thriving in the park as of 2011.[13]"
Are they morphing or just traveling south? We see them now in CT where we live as well in Westfield when we travel through.
